Understanding The Superiority Of Holistic Health Care

By Shawn Houston

If you want to grasp the meaning of the term, holistic health care you should simply utilize the original spelling of the word, which is, holistic; which is to say, whole, or entire. This means that holistic medical programs treat the whole patient, as opposed to just the physical aspect of the patient, or one particular part of the patient's body.

The focus of wholistic practitioners is on the multitude of systems, working together, that maintains the patient's body in a healthy state. There is also focus on the person's non-physical aspects, like their emotional, mental and spiritual life, as well: (the whole person).

This is quite a contrast with traditional medicine, whose doctors are virtually exclusively concerned about the physical body, and moreover, much more focused (or specialized) on one particular part or function of the body. Not only do they have hundreds of areas of specialization, but they tend to focus on how microscopic organisms like germs, viruses and bacteria can harm the human body.

The focus of holistic practitioners is less on such microscopic organisms, and much more on their patients immune system which, which operating as nature intends, has the ability to prevent such germs and viruses from having a harmful effect. A big part of a holistic lifestyle is nutrition via natural supplements and organic food, as well as therapies including, acupuncture, chiropractic, light therapy, homeopathy, clinics plus many other detox programs, naturopathy, massage and much more.

Most individuals who opt for wholistic lifestyle choose to only use drugs or surgery as last resorts, or for life saving emergency care. They hold the view that surgeries and drugs are usually harmful and not needed. They are concerned about such methods being inappropriate in most instances.

They like to talk about how drugs don't do anything to deal with the problem. At best they suppress symptoms for a while, but they often create more problems, in the form of side effects, for which even more drugs are needed, and which lead to more side effects. This vicious circle often ends up with emergency surgery that is only needed due to the effect of the drugs. It really isn't difficult to understand why the popularity of holistic health care is soaring.
