Tips On How Women In College Can Stop Criminal Attacks

By Gari B Shaffer

During my junior year while attending college, I decided to go out of my campus dorm for a place in a row of boardinghouses just outside the school grounds. Even though security would be nowhere near as tight, I did it to save cash and start living more independently.

Right after learning that a boarder of a different house got robbed on her way home one evening, I started to be twice as cautious. Was there not some form of college woman self defense that I could have on me always and would be able to use without any guesswork?

Someone else's terrible experience was how I came to discover the use of pepper spray, that I keep is one of the easiest safety devices to tote around and put to use. Even though your brain melts in a state of panic, you will know to aim and spray.

Defense sprays work by causing an acute burning feeling in the skin and the eyes. The strong ones can further make the recipient gag and cough unmanageably, and force the eyes close.

I got sold quickly on the personal sizes because these are compact and light, and ideal for slipping into and grabbing from a pocket or handbag. You can conceal a mini pepper spray in the hand so as not to forewarn and hence forearm an attacker.

As a personal bonus, these small pepper sprays got to be offered eventually in lovely colors. The Mace Personal Model Hot Pink 10% pepper spray that I use can supposedly empty 10 one-second bursts onto a target 8 to 12 feet away.

This 18-gram 10% Peppergard is said to be effective, high-grade OC pepper spray, which checks out based on what I have seen it do. It comes fitted with a flip-top safety cap, finger grip dispenser and key chain.

Because for a young woman self defense is as challenging as the crimes being countered, being able to work a defense spray effortlessly is a huge load off. Moreover, they're non-lethal and the incapacitating results peter out in 15 to 50 minutes.
